SABS Fellowship Eid al Adha Dinner 2018

The Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society was pleased to have held a fellowship Eid Dinner for the 4th consecutive year in commemoration of Eid al-Adha, a rememberance of the Prophet Abraham and a feast for Muslims at the end of the Hajj.

It is the etiquette of the Holy Prophet [s] and his Noble Family [a] to build neighbourly relations. At the event therefore, we sought to ever strengthen our ties and understanding of one another by making conversation and sharing in a meal as people of compassion.

Director-General and Chief Imam Sayed Razawi spoke at the event alongside friends from the Scottish Churches and civic society: the Rt. Rev Susan Brown, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; the Most Rev. Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church; Archbishop Mario Conti, Archbishop Emeritus of the Metropolitan of Glasgow; the Rev Dr David Pickering, Moderator of the Synod of Scotland, United Reformed Church; Rev Dr George Whyte, principal clerk of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; Frank Ross, The Rt. Hon. Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh; and the Rt. Hon. Eva Bolander, Lord Provost of the City of Glasgow. The deeply valued presence and talks of our Sunni partners showcased the unique intra-Islamic unity we strive to build.

We thank also guests who travelled from afar to participate and whose contribution was well felt: Dr. Elizabeta Kitanovic, Executive Secretary for Human Rights, Conference of European Churches, and Mother Audrey Kitagawa, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
