“On this day, after 13 years, my dear friend Dr John Hall retired having served as Dean at the Abbey. John had numerous achievements, and one of those achievements was the ability to bring faiths together. When I first met John, I was impressed with his knowledge and closeness to Allamah Rasheed Turabi (d. 1973), who was arguably the most talented khateeb to have recited on the minber of Imām Hussain in the 20th century. As the years went on, his wisdom, kindness, compassion and sense of service to others was a lesson for me. We wish John the very best in his retirement and congratulate him on his wonderful achievements”.
