We are pleased that, before the global COVID-19 pandemic materialised, H.E. Adama Dieng, UN Under Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide, managed to visit the Holy Cities in Iraq, particularly the Land of Karbala. Karbala is the location of the largest annual pilgrimage on earth, as millions flock to the shrine of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, Imam Hussain.
Mr Dieng, in partnership with the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, undertook a 2 day visit to Scotland in 2018 to unveil the UN Plan of Action for Leaders of the Prevention of Genocide. We look forward to welcoming him again.
