The Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society are grateful to the Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of Edinburgh, the Rt. Hon. Frank Ross, for having hosted a reception for members of the Shi’a Muslim community in Edinburgh at the City Chambers.
Historically, Shi’as have lived in Edinburgh for decades, and the community has become embedded into the bedrock of public life. In what was a historic moment, members of the community were invited to a reception hosted by the Lord and Lady Provost as we paid tribute to the place of Shi’as in the heart of Edinburgh’s civic structure, and to celebrate the occasion of Eid al Ghadir.
The gathering was warm and insightful, and an example of engagement that should be encouraged by all.
