28/07/17 – The Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, with the boons of the Most High and Ever-Gracious, held a fellowship banquet at the Royal Over-Seas League in commemoration of Eid al-Fitr, occasioned by the end of Ramadhan a month ago.

It is the etiquette of the Holy Prophet [s] and his Illustrious Family [a] to share in meals with others. At the event, Christians and Muslims found themselves by each other’s side, conversing in words both profound and light-hearted. The event comes as a continuation of the Society’s meetings, dialogue, and interfaith events with Christians of all denominations.

Director-General and Chief Imam Sayed Razawi spoke at the event alongside: the evening’s Chief Guest, the Rt. Rev Dr Derek Browning, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; Frank Ross, The Rt. Hon. Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh; and the Most Rev. Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church.

Of the other esteemed guests and civic and religious leaders, we particularly note the attendance and most valued support of the Rt. Hon. Eva Bolander, Lord Provost of the City of Glasgow; the Very Rev. Professor Iain Torrance, Dean of the Chapel Royal in Scotland; Sheikh Zainabi, Imam of Wali al Asir Trust; Sheikh Hyder Baig of the Shia community in Glasgow; and Suqlain Shah of the Sunni community and Dar ul Ehsan. We thank also the Most Reverend Leo William Cushley, Archbishop and Metropolitan of St Andrews & Edinburgh, who was unable to attend, for a very kind message of prayer.

Our thanks to the Royal Over-Seas League, Edinburgh
