The Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society’s Vice-Chair Ishrat, Treasurer & Executive Assistant Ali-Abbas and Youth Delegation Zainab were privileged to have attended the official opening of ‘The Family Meal – What Brings Us Together?’ photo exhibition organised by The European Commission Office in Scotland, in conjunction with the United Nations World Food Programme [WFP] and Just Festival. The exhibition photos were taken by the renowned British photographer Chris Terry who traveled the globe and met with families who benefit from WFP and the European Commission. His emotional and eye-opening photographic journey has taken him to Ecuador, Chad, Niger, Jordan and Myanmar. The exhibition, which has been touring European capitals, is created to raise awareness of and support the aims of the Zero Hunger Challenge that is committed to ending world hunger as soon as possible because, although there is in fact enough food to feed everyone, 805 million people still go hungry in the world today. We are very grateful to the EU Commission for the invitation, and were delighted to have met with Graham Blythe, Head of the EU Commission Office Scotland, Krystyna Bednarska, Country Director of WFP Brussels, Gregory Barrow, Country Director of WFP UK, and Chris Terry, the inspirational photographer himself, and we commend them all for the great humanitarian efforts they are involved in. Also a privilege to meet with acquaintances from the Sikh community.
